GEN. WESTMORELAND TO SPEAK AT VMI

Gen. William Westmoreland, a former commander of U.S. forces in Vietnam, will address Virginia Military Institute's Corps of Cadets on April 19.

The retired four-star general, who also was superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, will discuss American conflicts of the 20th century.

His appearance - scheduled for 8:30 p.m. in Jackson Memorial Hall - is part of this year's edition of VMI's H.B. Johnson Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series. The series was established seven years ago in honor of Johnson, a 1926 VMI alumnus.
