WOMAN IS REPORTED ASSAULTED IN BEDROOM

An 18-year-old woman was assaulted Monday night by a man who climbed through the bedroom window of her Northwest Roanoke apartment, police said today.

Carla Gean Slayton, 18, of Ferncliff Apartments, told police that she heard someone coming through her unlocked bedroom window about 11:30 p.m.

A man Slayton recognized forced her onto the bed and struck her in the face several times, police said. Slayton suffered bruises and a bloody nose.

Charges are pending against the man, who fled after the attack.
