FORMER TECH STUDENT CHARGED WITH ARSON

A third suspect--a former Virginia Tech student--has been arrested and charged with setting a fire to a vacant house on Clay Street last year.

Brad Edward Banky, 22, of Philadelphia, was arrested March 23 at the magistrate's office in Christiansburg and released after posting bond. He was charged with arson in connection with the fire that damaged the house at 400 Clay Street in April 1989.

Two current Tech students students--John L. Skrobiszewski Jr., 21, of Willard Drive, and Patrick J. DiStefano, 22, of Meadowbrook Drive--were arrested March 28 at their Blacksburg apartment.

A preliminary hearing for all three has been scheduled for May 2.
