SALEM TO GET NOSTALGIA WITH ITS NEW MACADO'S

The Macher family of Roanoke has purchased the Malibu restaurant on East Main Street in Salem and plans to open a Macado's restaurant there by July 15. It will be the 10th restaurant in the family chain.

Relish Realty, the family's real estate firm, is buying the building from Joey Carter and the restaurant from David Carl and Bob Winstead.

The "tin ceiling and nostalgia" will remain and the restaurant will be remodeled in the style of the Roanoke Macado's, said Roland "Spanky" Macher. The restaurant will seat 110 people and there will be room for another 30 at the bar, he said. Macher plans to apply for an ABC license. - Staff report
