SATELLITE DISH FLIES OFF TRUCK, HITS WOMAN

A 72-year-old Marion woman was injured Tuesday evening when a satellite dish flew from the back of a pickup truck and struck her in the head.

Pauline Thomas of Culbert Drive suffered a cut in the incident and was admitted to the Smyth County Community Hospital overnight for observation, police said.

Jeffrey M. Bowden, driver of the pickup, was charged with allowing an unsecured load to escape, said Cpl. M.D. Roberts of the Marion Police Department.
