MANY HATE PIECES ON GERMANS, GERMANY

WELL, I don't believe my eyes! Somebody is writing something positive about the Germans and Germany. Thanks to Mr. Payne (letter March 23)!

I have lived here for 24 years, and what I see most in the papers are hate letters and articles. I must say that I have gotten fed up with them. Maybe these people should come and be a guest in my house and see there are nice Germans here. I am concerned about the welfare of other people, whatever their backgrounds, and also the welfare of the community, as I do my share of volunteer community work.

I especially extend that invitation to your writer down at Emory & Henry College. Maybe a visit to cosmopolitan Blacksburg would improve his outlook. He could come and meet quite a collection of Germans here, who are mainly under 50 and were children during the war. CHRISTA HINKELMANN BLACKSBURG
