BARBARA BUSH WILL CHRISTEN NEW CARRIER

Barbara Bush will christen the Navy's newest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the USS George Washington, at Newport News Shipbuilding, according to congressional spokesmen.

White House officials said they had no information on the ceremony.

The Washington is the seventh nuclear-powered carrier built by the shipyard. The ship cost an estimated $2.99 billion.
