Harold W. Craun, age 77, of 3531 Peters Creek Rd., N.W., died Wednesday, April 11, 1990. He was a member of and a life deacon of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren and taught Sunday School there for over 50 years. He served as moderator of the Virlina District Church of the Brethren and also served on the board of Bridgewater College. He attended Bridgewater College and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1935 in Dairy Science. He was a retired dairy farmer and also was a retired employee of Pet Milk Company. He held offices in local, state, and national dairy organizations. He was a director and former president of the National Holstein Association and former president of Virginia State Dairymans Association. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Kathleen Garst Craun; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Phil Newton, Daleville; Marilyn and Charlie Wilkerson, Roanoke; one son and daughter-in-law, Garland and Thera Jean Craun, Bedford; eight grandchildren, Kim Brennan, Rick Miley, Sheryl Murphy, Jeanette, David, and Carolyn Craun, Allen and Sarah Wilkerson; five great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Nelson and Velma Craun, Bridgewater; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Edith C. and John Miller, Bridgewater; Ethel C. Miller, Vienna. Funeral services will be conducted from Peters Creek Church of the Brethren 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 13 with the Rev. Paris E. Bain officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peters Creek Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends at Oakey's North Chapel from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m Thursday.
