CONTINENTAL PAYS $215,000 IN FINES

Continental Airlines has paid the government $215,000 in fines for safety violations, including failure to make required repairs on two airliners, the Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday.

The fines were proposed by the FAA after a five-week inspection of its operations more than a year ago. FAA spokesman Fred Farrar said Continental responded quickly to remedy the problems. - Associated Press
