FISHERMAN HAULS IN STRANGE CATCH

A scallop boat dredged up a cracked and corroded sphere from the ocean floor that no one has been able to identify.

The 40-pound metal globe sits in a shed behind Carrol and Jewel Watkins' house.

Watkins' scallop boat, Ocean Angel, snagged the basketball-size sphere with its dredge on March 31 off the Virginia coast.
