Known for its straightforward physicality, the company uses exaggerated gesture and other movement to explore growth and change in human relationships.
In some of the numbers, the dancers perform in theatrical flying harnesses and are thereby able to execute normally impossible maneuvers.
The event is part of the One Night Stands performance series sponsored by The Arts Council of Roanoke Valley in conjunction with the theater and the Roanoke Museum of Fine Arts.
It will take place on Mill Mountain's main stage in Center in the Square. Past One Night Stands events were in Theatre B.
Tickets for Susan Marshall & Company are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. They are available at Mill Mountain's box office and at arts council offices in Center on Church.
Marshall founded her company in 1983 and it has performed at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Spoleto Festival U.S.A., the Israel Festival and Vienna Tanz '88, among other places.
On April 24, the day after the public performance, Susan Marshall & Company will give a dance workshop at Hollins College.
