`VOICES OF APPALACHIA' WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Winners of the "Voices of Appalachia" writing competition, sponsored by New River Community College, in the short fiction category were Charles M. Saplak with "Orgram Thigg's String of Dreadful Good," first place; Su Clauson with "The Blinders" and David Simpkins with "The Write Spiders," second place; and Matt Hart with "Worryin' Wadine," third place.

Winners in the poetry category were Diane Porter Goff with "In the House of the Shaman," first place; Nancy Bagato with "Railroad Crossing," and Nicholas Manni with "The Wind," second place; and Charles M. Saplak with "For an Aged Dreamer," third place.
