RADFORD LIBRARY WINS LITERACY PROJECT GRANT

The Radford Public Library has been named one of 26 Mid-Atlantic libraries to receive a $5,000 grant and participate in the Bell Atlantic-American Library Association Family Project. This project is designed to create a network of community libraries providing family literacy programs.

An American Library Association-Bell Atlantic advisory board chose the library's proposal from more than 60 submitted by teams of librarians, education and literacy specialists from a seven-state region. Funds will be used to begin new family literacy programs and improve existing efforts.
