SHIRES, EMMA M.\ RICH CREEK, VA. - Emma M. Shires, age 83, of 654 Mercer Road, Rich Creek, Va., formerly of Peterstown, W.Va., died Saturday at her residence. She had been a resident of Rich Creek for the past 20 years and was preceded in death by one son, Billy B. Shires, two brothers and three sisters. She was born June 16, 1906, at Zenith, W.Va., a daughter of the late Algie Miller and Mary Frances Miller. She was a member of the Zenith Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Sellie M. Shires, Rich Creek; three sons, Arnold M. Shires, Rich Creek; Jimmie L. Shires, Bluewell, W.Va.; Buddy H. Shires, Evansville, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Georgia Wickline, Lindside, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11:00 in the Broyles Funeral Chapel in Peterstown with the Rev. Joseph R. Darden officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens at Rich Creek, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell and Broyles Funeral Home in Peterstown are in charge of the arrangements.
