COAST GUARD CALLS OFF SEARCH FOR FISHERMAN

The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a crew member missing from a fishing boat near Poquoson.

Coast Guard officials said the search for Conception Castro, a native of El Salvador, was suspended at sunset Saturday and was not scheduled to be resumed.

The 70-foot vessel "Kraut and Kracker" was about to dock in the Poquoson River about 3:15 a.m., when other crew members discovered the crew member missing, said Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer 1st Class Rick Woods.

He said the crew member was last seen on board around 11 p.m. Friday. There were at least six other crew members on board, Woods said.
