DOWN'S SYNDROME ORGANIZATION FORMED

A support, education and advocacy group has been formed in Roanoke by families who include someone with Down's syndrome.

The Down's Syndrome Association of Roanoke will meet the second Thursday of each month. Its first regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 10 at Christ Lutheran Church at Brandon Avenue and Grandin Road Southwest.

Down's syndrome is a birth defect that affects mental and physical development.

Susan Cloeter, the association's president, said about a dozen families form the nucleus of the group, but they hope to expand to others. Those needing more information can reach Cloeter at 774-1975.
