The Hokies, who won two of the three-game series, are 6-3 in the league and 27-8 overall. The Gamecocks are 7-4 and 21-18.
Mike Williams (8-1) earned the complete-game victory. The right-hander, a redshirt junior out of Giles High School in Newport, Va., struck out five, walked two and gave up the three Gamecocks runs, all earned.
Brian Beatson had held Virginia Tech to one hit after relieving starter Rich Pratt in the seventh. Beatson (1-3) retired 14 Hokies in a row until catcher Clint Creed singled in the 12th. He gave up four of the five hits and four runs in the 12th.
In 12th inning, Creed singled with one out and Shaun Thomas, who went 3-for-6, hit one of his two doubles to put runners at second and third. Then Dallas singled in two runs. With two outs, Les Jennette homered for two more runs and J.R. Hawkins doubled to drive in a fifth run.
Virginia Tech also got home runs from Hawkins and Len Wentz.
