COLONIAL HEIGHTS - Dr. Kermit Jackson Moore died April 15, 1990 in Southside Regional Hospital. He was a native of Floyd Co., and was the son of the late Thomas Glen and Letha Ellen Moore. He attended Emory and Henry and Roanoke College, where he took pre-med. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and interned at Retreat For the Sick in Richmond. Dr. Moore was in family practice in Petersburg for 45 years. He was a member of St. Michaels Episcopal Church, American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Practice, Medical Society of Virginia, and on the staff of Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. He received a certificate of appreciation for service to the nation from President Lyndon B. Johnson, August 31, 1965 and again from President Richard Nixon, August 31, 1970. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Moore; two sons, Kermit Daniel Moore, of Richmond; and Scott Jackson Moore, of Colonial Heights; two daughters, Sheri Amelia Moore, and Christy Raquel Moore, both of Colonial Heights; stepmother, Gladys R. Moore; of Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Kari Jean Moore, Kermit Daniel Moore, Jr., John Stewart Moore, and Brian Patrick Moore, all of Richmond; two nephews, Dr. Chimer Dave Moore, and Dr. Robert Moore, both of Wytheville. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday 10:00 a.m. in St. Michaels Episcopal Church. Interment in Blanford Cemetery Petersburg. The family will receive friends Tuesday 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of J.,T. Morriss & Son. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Michaels Episcopal Memorial Fund.
