"In the coming decade, Virginia's volunteer and career EMS agencies will face their greatest challenge - attracting and keeping high-quality members," said Mark Whiting, workshop coordinator and public information officer for the Virginia Division of Emergency Medical Services.
"There is a growing realization that EMS recruitment and retention can no longer be taken for granted," he said. "It is now a matter of survival."
Workshop instructors include members of the Public Information and Education Task Force of the Governor's EMS Advisory Board, which developed the program, and Katherine Noyes, director of program services with the Virginia Department of Volunteerism.
The number of participants will be limited. Further information is available by telephoning Whiting (toll-free 1-800-523-6019) or Jamie Smyth (628-4151).
