M&R'S `REAL' SANTA SOLD TO THALHIMERS

If a federal judge approves, Richmond's highly successful "real" Santa Claus will have a new home next door to the old one.

Thalhimer Bros. Inc. has agreed to pay $18,000 to take over the Santa program made famous by Miller & Rhoads Inc. Until M&R closed earlier this year, Thalhimers was its chief rival downtown.

Papers filed with the Bankruptcy Court last week did not spell out exactly what Thalhimers would get for $18,000, but it would not include Santa's chair, which will be sold at auction April 28. - Associated Press
