ROCKBRIDGE BATHS - William Edgar Bobbitt, age 81, died Thursday, April 19, 1990, at a local hospital. He was born on April 25, 1908, in Rocky Mount, N.C. His parents were Joseph R. Bobbitt and Elizabeth Daniel Bobbitt. He graduated from the University of North Carolina and worked for Virginia Electric Power Company for seven years, before entering the military during World War II. He was a manager of the Rocky Mount, N.C. Chamber of Commerce for 4 years. He served as business manager and treasurer for the Episcopal High School for 20 years, before retiring in 1969 to live on his farm where he was active in civic and church affairs. He is survived by his wife, Emily Berrickson Bobbitt; one son, William E. Bobbitt, Jr., Staunton; one daughter, Mrs. Calvert V. Klopp, Columbia, S.C.; one brother, Jim S. Bobbitt, Rocky Mount, N.C.; four grandchildren, Miles C. Bobbitt, Alexander W. Bobbitt, Emily B. Klopp, Margaret E. Klopp. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the Robert E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church, Lexington, with the Rev. David Cox officiating.
