OBIT-ALLEN, S.

BEDFORD - Smith Rucker (S.R.) Allen, age 92, of the Carriage Hill Retirement Home, passed away Thursday, April 19, 1990 in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born April 17, 1898 in Rockbridge County. He was a retired sawmill operator and was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice McManaway Allen and two sons, William R. Allen and Edward S. Allen. He is survived by one son, David Lee Allen, Roanoke; daughter, Agnes Allen Kirk, Jamestown, N.C.; sister, Beulah Bartley, Roanoke; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 22, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Eugene Campbell. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
