`MUGGING' OF MAN RESULTS IN CHARGES

A Roanoke man was injured Thursday when he was repeatedly struck on the head with a coffee mug, police said Friday.

In what police called a domestic dispute, Tonya D. Hayes, 36, was charged with the malicious wounding of Lewis Albert Ramsey, 45.

Police said the two shared a home in the 1700 block of Staunton Avenue Northwest.

Hayes told police that Ramsey threatened her with a knife after the two began to argue Thursday.

Ramsey suffered cuts on his head and shoulders and was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, police said.
