Samuel D. Withers, age 77, of 3980 McIntosh Rd., Roanoke, died Saturday, April 21, 1990. He was a member of Fleming Chapel and was a retired Engineer at N&W Railway. He was predeceased by two daughters, Carol Lee Withers and June Withers Ayers. He is survived by his wife, Iris L. Withers; one son and daughter-in-law, James D. and Claudette Withers, Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Wayne Brooks, Troutville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald D. Withers, Boones Mill. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 23, 1990, with Mr. Wesley Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
