BIG ISLAND - Virginia Bohannon Brown, age 76, of Route 1, Big Island, died Saturday, April 21, 1990, in Camelot Nursing Home in Salem. She was the wife of the late Samuel Jordan Brown. Born in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late John Robert Bohannon and Lilly Shelton Bohannon. She was a member of Big Island Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Michael J. Brown; a daughter-in-law, Janet M. Brown; a grandson, Matthew Jordan Brown, all of Blue Ridge; a granddaughter, Sarah Rice, and a great-grandddaughter, Emily Rice, both of Roanoke; four sisters, Betty Muller, Long Island, N.Y.; Marie Morris, Lynchburg; Frances Liddell, California; Mary Alee Herman, Florida. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Big Island Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Edmonds. Private interment will be in Big Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing to make memorials to please consider the Big Island Rescue Squad or the Big Island Volunteer Fire Department. Whitten Park Avenue Chapel in Lynchburg is in charge of arrangements.
