RADFORD, VA. - Celeslie J. (Baby Girl) Calfee, age 91, departed this life Thursday night at the Radford Community Hospital after a short illness. She was born September 6, 1899, in Radford, Va., the daughter of the late James Jones and Mary Jones. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, West Street, Radford, Va. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Missionary Society, and the Montgomery County Branch of the N. A. A. C. P. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Calfee, Sr., two sons and one daughter. Her survivors are three sons, Curtis Calfee of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Francis Calfee of Colonial Heights, Va.; and Joseph Calfee of Dublin, Va.; four daughters, Essie Mae Arnold, and Caroline Merchent, both of New River, Va.; Mary Lewis and Joyce Calfee, both of Radford, Va.; and a host of grand and great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, West Street, Radford, Va., with Dr. William Weldon officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 at the Claytor-Alexander and Penn Funeral Home Chapel, Radford, Va. Burial will be at the Sunrise Burial Park, Fairlawn, Va. Claytor-Alexander and Penn Funeral Home, Radford, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.
