Harriet Turpin Cooper, age 50, of 815 Peaksview Street, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 24, 1990 at her home. She was born in Lynchburg on February 22, 1940 a daughter of Lillian Hatcher Turpin of Goods and the late Harry Turpin. She was a member of Bedford Baptist Church and was cosmetology teacher for the Bedford County Public Schools. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Gerald S. Cooper, Sr.; a son, Gerald S. Cooper, Jr., of Alexandria; a daughter, Julie Cooper Horton, of Charlottesville; two sisters, Carolyn T. Camden, of Richmond, and Margaret T. Ayers, of Norfolk; a granddaughter, Cristen Anne Horton. Memorial services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Bedford Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat B. Tony and Dr. Denver J. Davis officiating. Memorials may be made to either the Bedford Life Saving Crew or a favorite charity. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Carder-Tharpe Funeral Home.
