CRAWFORD TOURNAMENT STARTS FRIDAY IN SALEM

The 10th annual Chance Crawford Softball Tournament begins Friday at the Salem Civic Center fields, with the opening games at 6:30 p.m. The benefit slow-pitch tournament includes 143 teams in six divisions.

There is no admission charge for spectators. Tournament proceeds go to the Chance Crawford Trust Fund, established in 1980 to help Crawford, a former Salem High football player who was injured in a 1980 game and is paralyzed.

Play continues Saturday from 9 a.m.-11 p.m. on 12 fields throughout the Roanoke Valley. Sunday's games begin at 8 a.m. Staff Report
