The plant has been gradually recalling the 75 workers it laid off in recent months, and plant manager Peter Borg said he thought the 14 or so still out would be back in the next couple of weeks.
He said increasing sales made the recalls possible. Some workers who had been laid off have obtained other jobs, however.
Dennis J. Gormley, president and chief executive officer, came to Blacksburg as part of a tour of the company's 22 U.S. manufacturing facilities.
"Everyone I met seemed to genuinely care about the future of Federal Mogul and the role they play in its continued success," Gormley said in a company news release. "We intend to be a world-class company within the next three years and the key to our success is our employees."
The Blacksburg plant's expansion will help that process, Borg said. The plant is developing the capability to manufacture the aluminum alloys it uses to make engine bearings. Construction will be complete in midsummer and the last equipment will arrive late this year.
