ETC. KY. SUPREME COURT REINSTATES COACH'S LIBEL CASE

The Kentucky state Supreme Court reinstated a libel case against the Lexington Herald-Leader over a Pulitzer Prize-winning series on improprieties in college athletics.

Kentucky's high court unanimously ruled that Reggie Warford, a former assistant basketball coach accused in the articles of offering money to a recruit, was not a public figure and did not have to prove the newspaper printed the story maliciously.

Chet Forte, an Emmy-award winning producer and a former director of ABC-TV's "Monday Night Football," was indicted on federal tax and mail fraud charges, authorities said in Newark, N.J. If convicted, Forte faces more than 70 years in prison and fines that could run into the millions.
