VA. GETS $3 MILLION IN OIL PRICE SUIT

Attorney General Mary Sue Terry on Thursday accepted more than $3.2 million for the state as part of a settlement of a lawsuit alleging violation of federal oil price controls by companies in the early 1980s.

The litigation, known as the "stripper well" case, was one of several oil overcharge cases initiated by states. The money can be used to help low-income Virginians insulate their homes, Terry said. - Staff report
