PRIME BEEF SHOW AT HARRISONBURG

The Virginia Beef Exposition, showcasing eight major breeds of seed-stock cattle from Virginia, is at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds this weekend. More than 250 head of Angus, Red Angus, Charolais, Polled Hereford, Limousin, Simmental, Salers and Shorthorn will be shown and sold today and Saturday at the Harrisonburg show.

The event gets under way today with a celebrity beef cookoff at 10 a.m. and a demonstration of border collies herding cattle at noon. An all-you-can-eat beef festival will be tonight, 6:30-8:30.

On Saturday at 10 a.m. will be a rodeo contest. A team roping and cutting-horse competition is set for noon and a calf scramble for children under 12 at 1 p.m.
