\ BEDFORD - Mr. James R. Goode departed this life April 26, 1990, at his residence in Bedford County. He was the son of the late Ernest Goode and Mrs. Emma S. Goode. He was born in Bedford County, May 7, 1938. He joined the Poplar Spring Baptist Church at an early age. He was later united in marriage to Betty A. Parker and to this union were born two children. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria J. Goode. He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Goode; one son, James R. Goode, Jr., both of Bedford; five brothers, Willie H. Goode, Bedford; Elburyn P. Goode, North Carolina; Elmer N. Goode, Anchorage, Alaska; Carl N. Goode, Bedford; John C. Goode, California; three sisters, Evangelist J. V. Bonds, Bedford; Mrs. Helen R. Spinner, Big Island; Mrs. Thelma C. Rhodes, Altavista; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 30, 1990, at 11:00 a.m. at the Poplar Spring Baptist Church in Bedford County. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel.
