CHILI COOKOFF, ANNUAL PARTY SET SATURDAY

The Virginia Chili Cookoff and the Annual Class Reunion Party will be held on Saturday on the Roanoke City Market.

The chili cookoff will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thirty chili cooks will vie for the top prize, a trip to the International Cookoff in California. There also will be a people's choice competition and a chili pepper eating contest. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at 4 p.m. Live entertainment will take place throughout the day.

The Annual Class Reunion Party begins at 7:30 p.m. and continues to 11 p.m. Music will be provided by The Kings.

Both events are sponsored by the Roanoke Special Events Committee. Food and beverages will be offered. The Market Square Parking Garage will be open all day and evening. Cans, bottles, coolers, pets, bikes and skateboards are prohibited. For further information call 981-2889.
