More than 170 diplomas will be awarded. Three honorary doctoral degrees will be conferred, one of them on Warner. The others will go to George J. Stevenson, emeritus professor of history, and Ray Lewis White, an Emory & Henry graduate who has written 19 books and is considered a leading authority on the career of another author, Sherwood Anderson.
The 1990 DeFiece Medal for service to humanity will be presented to H. Bosley Woolf, a 1931 graduate who was editor-in-chief for the eighth edition of Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary.
