AGING SEMINAR IN ABINGDON

The Eighth Annual Seminar on Older Persons will be held May 16-18 at Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon.

The seminar's agenda includes a day of activities and workshops for people over 60, followed by two days of training for professionals, volunteers, and others who work with elderly people. The Wednesday topics include: "Beginning Water Color," "Doctor-Patient Communication," "Planning Ahead for Medical Decision Making," "Self-Expression and Fashion," "Energizing and Yoga Exercises," "Expanding Horizons through Education and Travel," "Intimacy in Later Life," "Positive Lifestyles in the 21st Century," and "Birdwatching."

The Friday morning keynote address will be delivered by Marlene B. Brown, an adjunct professor at Utica College of Syracuse University and an instructor for the American Management Association. Brown will also lead two workshop sessions.

Registration fee for the seminar is $3 per day for persons 60 and older and for students; $10 per day for other persons and $5 per day for lunch. An additional $5 fee applies to those who participate in the workshop on watercolors. Continuing education units are available through Emory and Henry College.
