Organized by the Greater Blue Ridge Chapter of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, the 9-mile walk raised more than $90,000.
Proceeds from the event go to both the national office and local chapter of the March of Dimes organization for treatment of birth defects, genetic counseling and prenatal care programs.
The $90,000 raised Sunday was $6,200 more than was collected by the 1,200 walkers last year.
Participants walked and collected donations as individuals and teams representing local companies, civic clubs, schools and other organizations.
Individually, Mary Frances Conner of Roanoke collected the largest amount in donations, $3,000.
Team collection figures will not be determined for several days.
