RESPECT FOR NATURE OLD RELIGION'S TENET

I WAS GREATLY encouraged by your excellent editorial April 21, "Restoring a sense of nature's wonder."

Not only is it an accurate assessment of Earth Day 1990; it also tells us to "take time to be still before nature. Watch it, listen to it, heed it. Recapture some of the primitives' profound respect for all that nature is and does. We are part and parcel of it . . . "

These are exactly the sentiments of hundreds of us in Western Virginia who practice the old religion, Wicca. The main tenet of our ancient belief is respect for and cooperation with the forces of nature. And so for this reason we applaud and salute this fine editorial.
