MINISTER RECEIVES TOP CITIZEN AWARD

The Rev. Tom Sproule, pastor of Wytheville Presbyterian Church for nearly 28 years, has received the 1990 Outstanding Citizenship Award from the Wytheville-Wythe-Bland Chamber of Commerce.

Sproule has received other awards for his work in civic causes and organizations. He has taught psychology and philosophy at Wytheville Community College since 1963, coached track at George Wythe High School and was a high school and college football and basketball official for 30 years.

"What I like about him and how I classify him is a gentleman," said Stanley King Sr., who presented the award recently at the chamber's 44th annual dinner meeting.
