The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning just after 6 p.m. Monday and urged residents to move to interior rooms on the lowest levels of their homes until the storm passed.
A funnel cloud was spotted near the north part of the city about 6:25 p.m. following a cloudburst and reports of golfball-sized hail. Winds exceeding 55 mph also were reported, but only minor damage occurred.
