TWO COUNCILMEN BACK AFTER VOTE IN BRISTOL

James Rector, who is currently serving as Bristol's mayor, led the balloting Tuesday to be returned to council with 1,949 votes.

Paul Hurley, the only other council member to win re-election, got 1,822 votes. Newcomer Larry Kirksey won the remaining seat with 1,927 votes.

Don Ashley, who is now vice mayor, got 1,361 votes, not enough to keep him on council. The other newcomers on the ballot were Ted Ellis, who drew 1,153 votes; Jamie Coleman, with 334; and Billy Vaughan, with 1,193.
