The event is designed to give children, handicapped people and nursing-home patients an opportunity to fish. Volunteers bring fishing equipment for the participants to use and help them to fish. Treats and prizes also are given to the children.
The schedule is as follows:
May 12, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., children ages 3-8. Rain date is May 13, 1 until 4 p.m.
May 14, 10 a.m. until noon, handicapped and autistic children. Rain date is May 15, 10 a.m. until noon.
May 17, 10 a.m. until noon, nursing-home patients. Rain date is May 18, 10 a.m. until noon.
May 19, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., children ages 9-12. Rain date is May 20, 1 until 4 p.m.
After the last rodeo, the lake will be open to children ages 3-12 and handicapped adults with a 1990 Salem fishing permit. The limit is six trout per person. For more information, call the Salem Parks and Recreation Department at 375-3057.
