EIGHT AGENCIES RECEIVE JUNIOR LEAGUE GRANTS

The Junior League of Roanoke Valley has announced eight recipients of its Community Opportunity Grants.

A total of $3,500 will be shared by the following organizations: City Rescue Mission, $500; Voluntary Action Center of the Council of Community Services, $500; city of Roanoke, Adventures for Kids, $500; Mental Health Association, $500; Association for Retarded Citizens, $400; the Achievement Center, $360; Apple Ridge Farm Inc., $413; and the League of Older Americans, $327.

The grants were established to fund volunteer programs fulfilling specific community needs. The Junior League awards these grants of up to $500 twice each year. The next deadline for applications is Oct. 1.
