\ CHILHOWIE - Mrs. Elizabeth Sechler Roper, age 84, died December 14, 1989, in Long Beach, Calif. She was born in Chilhowie, Va. August 29, 1905. The daughter of the late Joseph H. and Mayme Heninger Sechler. She attended Stonewall Jackson College and Peabody Conservatory and taught music before her marriage in 1931 to Lewis Roper. They lived in several locations including Radford, Va. and Lawrence, Kanas before moving to Long Beach, Calif. in 1987. She is survived by her husband, Lewis M. Roper, of the home; one daughter, Susan Roper Frady, Long Beach, Calif. Memorial services and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 1990, in the Beatie Cemetery, Chilhowie, Va. with the Venerable L. Roper Shamhart officiating. The family suggest memorials to the Beatie Cemetery Fund, c/o of Miss Mary Payne Copenhaver, Treasurer, P.O. Box 12, Chilhowie, Va. 24319. Arrangements by Williams Funeral Home, Chilhowie.
