TWO CHARGED IN IRAQI `SUPER-GUN' PROJECT

The managing director of a company that manufactured parts for a suspected Iraqi "super gun" project appeared in court Thursday on charges of violating a British arms embargo.

A former executive of a Belgian company that contracted for the parts also appeared before Magistrate Jane Hayward. Both men were released on $40,000 bond, and their cases were adjourned until Aug. 22.

Iraq has denied the equipment was part or a weapon and it was intended for use in a petrochemical plant.
