SECTIONS OF PARKWAY CLOSING FOR SPRAYING

A 46-mile stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway between Rockfish Gap in Nelson County and U.S. 60 near Buena Vista will be closed temporarily next week while it is sprayed for gypsy moths.

Depending on the weather, the spraying is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. Spraying will not occur if winds exceed 10 miles per hour, if the temperature is below 40 degrees or above 80, or if the humidity falls below 40 percent.

The National Park Service expects that the parkway may be closed for portions of two to three days because of the spraying.

If you plan to travel on the parkway next week, you can find out if it is open by calling (703) 943-0663.
