\ RADFORD - Murphy Calhoun Thigpen, age 56, died Friday in Wiston-Salem, N.C. Surviving are his wife, Golonda C. Thigpen of Radford; two daughters, Suzette T. Fariss, Christiansburg; Jill T. Whitley, Stafford; two brothers, Jerry M. Thigpen, Beulaville, N.C.; Benny G. Thigpen, Beulaville, N.C.; three grandchildren also survived. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Fairlawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Daryl S. Joyce officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home.
