Lula McCorkle Moore, age 94, died Friday at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Bedford. Born July 5, 1895, in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel White and Lula Strain McCorkle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Earl Moore. She was the oldest member of New Monmouth Presbyterian Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. John D. Sterrett, Yorktown; M. Elizabeth Moore, Lexington; Mrs. R.G. Bradshaw, Bedford; Mrs. Robert Stockhausen, Bradenton, Fla.; one son, Harry E. Moore, Lexington; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2:00 at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church Cemetery followed by a memorial service in the church conducted by the Rev. H. Wray Sherman and the Rev. John D. Sterrett, III. The family will receive friends at any time at the home of her son, Harry Moore. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to New Monmouth Presbyterian Church. Harrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
