Mrs. Shirley J. Kessler, age 63, of Roanoke, died suddenly Friday afternoon in a local hospital. She was a member of Melrose Avenue United Methodist Church where she was active in the Eva Amos Circle and the Friendship Class. Surviving are her husband, Frank H. Kessler; two daughters, Mrs. Beth K. Short, Roanoke; Mrs. Sue Rothgeb, Oxford, Ohio; a brother, Burleigh Jennings, New York City, N.Y.; three grandsons, Ray Short, David Short and John Rothgeb. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday from Oakey's North Chapel with Mr. Fred Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
