Christine Feather Hughes, age 57, died early Saturday, May 5, 1990. She had been General Manager and co-owner of the Monticello News. She was a native of Roanoke. Before moving to Monticello, Ga., she had been in journalism in Charlotte, N.C., and in Atlanta, Ga. Survivors include her husband, William Hughes, Monticello, Ga.; four daughters, Cynthia Pierce, Atlanta, Ga.; Debra Rush, Conyers, Ga.; Katherine Tope and Jennifer Hobby, both of Monticello, Ga.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Taylor, Vinton; brother, Samuel Feather, Botetourt County; mother-in-law, Mrs. Mildred K. Hughes of Salem. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, May 10, 1990, at 2:00 p.m. at the Monticello Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a church or charity of your choice.
